Sal Sorrento is a dedicated community leader with a lifelong commitment to serving the people of St. Catharines. Immigrating from Italy at a young age, Sal’s family laid down roots in downtown St. Catharines, where he learned the value of hard work and giving back to his community. He holds two undergraduate degrees from Brock University and a Master of Science in Education, Counselling from Niagara University.
Sal has spent his career helping people in need, both as an Outreach worker and through extensive community service. His volunteer work includes the Out of the Cold Program, the T’Amo Festival, Royal Henley Regattas, Folk Arts and Grape and Wine Festivals, and co-founding the Facer Street Festival. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Niagara Multicultural Centre for 12 years, five of those as Chair.
Currently serving his second term as a St. Catharines regional councilor, Sal is a strong advocate for seniors, affordable housing, mental health, and improving long-term care. Sal is also previously a two term city councillor in St. Catharines.
A champion for local businesses, he has been a key leader in the Facer District Merchant and Residents Association and served as the city-appointed representative for the St. Catharines Downtown Association BIA.
